Spanish Interpreters

Summit Speech School is seeking part time Spanish Interpreters for our Early Intervention Program. The interpreters provide oral and written translation/interpretation for service providers and families. Candidates must possess effective oral and written communication skills. A flexible schedule and willingness to travel within Union, Essex, Somerset, Middlesex and Morris Counties is required.

Job Description-

  • Must maintain confidentiality and maintain highest standards for moral and ethical conduct in translation/interpretation services.
  • Must ensure accuracy in translation/interpretation of word content and communication intent.
  • Must be able to shift from technical to informal language and recognize/accommodate dialectic differences in Spanish.
  • Work with Teachers of the Deaf to provide services in home, day care setting or at Summit Speech School.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License, appropriate automobile insurance coverage and reliable transportation
  • Approved Criminal Background Check
  • Required skills, knowledge and ability to perform job
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Flexible schedule and willingness to travel within Union, Essex, Somerset, Middlesex and Morris Counties.


Development Associate-Special Events

Reports to:     Director of Development

Description:    Part time, 12-month, non-exempt position

Job Function:
Works with the Development staff to support all department functions, including donor database, gift reports, special events and donor cultivation.

Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum of 2 years of experience working in fundraising or volunteer equivalent
Effective time management and organization skills to manage multiple tasks
Computer fluency in MS Office and social media.  Experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred, but not required
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including proofreading, spelling and grammar
Ability to relate to and work effectively with a variety of people
Commitment to the mission of the school

Duties and Responsibilities:

Fall Concert:
Assist with event registration
Solicit Auction items
Promote ticket and raffle sales
Assist with Auction visuals/displays
Create slideshow of SSS children and sponsors (logos)
Attend and work event day (Nov. 2)

Spring Benefit:
Support Spring Benefit Committee
Solicit Auction items
Assist with Auction visuals/displays
Produce Auction Booklet
Submit raffle requirements
Track Committee members responsibilities
Process gift-in-kind thank you letters
Provide Event Day supervision of tasks
Attend and work set-up day and event day (Apr. 27-28)

Assist Development Associate with the following SB tasks, as needed:
Assist with SB Invitation mailing lists, note writing and mailing
Process RSVP cards and monies (checks & credit cards)
Update excel spreadsheet with donations, raffle tickets, sponsorship $ received
Update seating/table requests in spreadsheet
Help organize table/ballroom layout
Help make tags and tag items for auction
Create name tags for committee, board and staff
Shop for tissue paper, bags, and wrapping paper for auction baskets
Handle monies collected day of the event
Help produce event day financial breakdown
Run ad hoc development reports

Neil’s Golf Outing: May
Assist with Golf Outing production, including meeting with Neil 3-6 times before event
Help maintain roster of players
Help maintain spreadsheet with donations, sponsors and all payments
Solicit auction items
Contact auction donors if needed
Work on site day of event and take photos
Help enter money into RE and send out thank you letters

Support other events such as the Walk4Hearing, Somerset Patriots Baseball Outing or other events as assigned.
